About Us / SCW Core Values

At Southern Community Welfare we are committed to a few core values that underpin the way we work, the type of work we do and the decisions we make.

HOPE

While many people come to our service feeling hopeless, we believe that hope is integral to moving forward. Hope is foundational to our core values - that in spite of current circumstances, there is potential for change in someone’s life.

POTENTIAL

We value the unique potential of each individual with whom we come in contact, being dedicated to and passionate about providing people with a platform to discover themselves.

RELATIONSHIP

We believe in the value of relationships. That we are relational beings, designed to interact with each other. We invest ourselves in relationship and work towards promoting healing in relationships that are damaged and preventing damage in relationships that are at risk.

COMMUNITY

Community is comprised of a range of individuals with diverse needs, beliefs and values. Community may be seen in the family unit, local groups, state, national and international expressions. We value the power of community in its capacity to support, contain and promote wellbeing for the individuals that live in it.

HEALTH

The health of an individual impacts the health of their relationships, family and community. By health, we not only refer to mental health, but also a person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual health.

CLIENT CARE

We are committed to the whole person, taking all possible action to ensure well-being for our clients.

INNOVATION

Clinical experience allows for theoretical innovation and client-centred creativity.

TEAM

As a team we value and are committed to ownership, dedication, responsibility and accountability to each other and our organisation. We aim to celebrate each others successes and stand with each other in difficult times.

COMMUNICATION

We strive to include, inform and give complete information to those we partner with and serve.

PERSONAL WELL-BEING

Trust, honesty, integrity and ethics are core qualities we ask of each member of our team. We commit to ensuring that our team members balance their personal wellbeing, professional development and work ethic.

BEST PRACTICE

We are committed to providing clear lines of communication, continuous monitoring of performance and to quickly addressing areas that need improvement. We aim to be transparent in our policy, financial management and resource development.

INITIATIVE

We promote an environment where individuals can create, design and implement their own ideas given they are congruent with our organisation’s key delivery areas.
